Why is it every time someone finds out I have a Mini........they used to own a Cooper S??

I had a guy come and look at a car I have for sale today, and his kid saw my clubamn in the garage......and you guessed it:

"Hey, can I have a look at your mini? I used to have a Cooper S you know !!"

I reckon there must be a Sh#tl%@d of them hidden away somewhere in this country; and I for one, want to find them.......... :!:

Any ideas???

A1

By the way, anyone interested in a Nissan Patrol 89 in VIC, great car etc etc....let me know......

According to the chassis number of a Cooper S on ebay there are at least 35693 of them. 8)

to get an accurate answer look up the 1969 census info and look up the number of males in Australia aged between 14 and 75 and divide by 2

at least half the able bodied men(!) at the time seem to think they had one

They must have changed hands regularly for nearly everyone in Australia to have owned one at one time or another....for the record...I have never owned one!!

Hi guys,
Like everyone, I am aware that there seems to be more S's around now than there were back then but, here in NZ, they seemed to change hands more often than other makes. I recall that people used to get sick of them quickly and a year or so of ownership was enough. Original 60's S's here have often had close on 20 owners. However, I bet there are some that say they had one that didn't!

The rule of thumb is to listen very carefully before waving them off. Once in a while the monologue will end with a "and it's still bricked in under my house".

Of course that would be the well known UK Mini GTC. 6 cyl engine from the MGC fitted complete with triple SUs.

Pretty sure the MGC didn't use the B6 2433cc (ie Austin Freeway) motor, but its bigger brudda.
