If you're talking about removing the locks rather than replacing or fixing them (the handles too for the complete shaved look) it is something I have considered also but do not have much insight into either.
The main problem I see with the idea is releasing the door to get in if there is no lock or handle... I have no idea in this department so excuse me if I seem naive.

pretty simple in theory - a big solenoid that pulls down on the lever inside the door that pulls the catch back - my frist thought was you couldn't do it on a roundie, but you actually could ..... the arm that goes around the glass could be extended into the door and pulled down on

actuated with a button on your keytag - simple as using the control box for central locking. Use the remote to open the drivers door, and an internal button to open the passenger door, and might as well do the bootlid while you're at it

buggered if your battery goes flat tho

you need to have a mechanical means to open the door for it to be legal.

I would keep the handles, just use 2 central locking solenoids to put deadbolts through the B pillar and door. There's room to house them behind the rear trim cards.

You need to use a manual release (which you need for legal requirments) Usually consisting of a metal rod that pops out of the top of the door somewhere. (this rod needs to be close to where the door handle used to be for compliance and saftey) This rod runs off the old door release mechanisim to open and close the door. All you need to do is Push down to release the door.

You can also use poppers which are a solenoid to release the door, works alot like central locking.

Central locking is the best bet for the door locks.

As for the shave work all id its is a matter of tack welding in a plate cut from another door (to give the same curve in the door), grinding back the welds and bogging up to give a smooth shaved finish. Then repainting (Just dont put too much heat into the tacks as you weld or the door will buckle)

a mate of mine has done this on his gemini and from what he's told me its not worth shaving the handles off, cause basicly u are relying on ur remote and battery, and his told me a few stories of me being locked out of his car due to this many times plus to me it makes the door and the side of the car look plain

Which is one of the reasons you legally must have a mechanical way of opening the door , the other reason you need an external mechanical means is if you have an accident and whoevers there can open the door to get you out .
