hey all

just curious as to the actual colours of the front "morris" badges cause the couple i have are REALLY faded and the paint is mostly gone....i managed to polish one up nicely but its missing a fair bit of paint..

im prepared to paint it up myself but not sure if its a BRIGHT red for the bull and a navy blue etc also i havent a clue what colour goes on the "wings" of the badge? :?

oh and jester aint getting the bonnet badge just yet......still got troubles closing the bonnet and i have to push it IN where the bonnet badge goes..ie i dont wanna be taking off paint

cheers 8)

I don't remember the colours, but you may be able to sort out your bonnet closing problem by bending the bracket that holds the lock down pin/spring - just grab it with your hand, the bonnet lip with your other and push back on it to bend it back a couple of mm - doesn't take much

I painted mine with those little pots of oil based humbrol model paint.
The method is as follows - and sorry if I'm preaching to the converted.

* one colour at a time
* use a liberal amount of paint for the part of the emblem being painted (within reason)
* when done, use a cotton rag only "slightly" moistened in mineral turpentine and stretched tightly over your finger
* "lightly" wipe away the excess paint leaving only the area you wanted coloured.
* when dry to touch move onto next colour.

You'll find that this will work on other items also like choke / vent / heater controls and gear knobs and the like.

Cheers
Matt

Not a bad job. My recollection of the colours "when they were new" is of a slightly darker blue, and perhaps a less bright red. The red is closer than the blue from my memory, but there's not much in it. Of course, there is the consideration of colour reproduction on my monitor and your camera etc.

Yeah i realize that you can't see the exact colours of it but I know they aren't exact. The blue and red were left overs from other jobs and the paint was just lying around so I just used that.

Thought it would help for the general "gist" of what colours to go with as mine still had a little bit of the colours in the corners etc.
