I reckon you can't beat the original MK1 type sponge seal. I got mine in from MiniSport 10 years ago, it's still OK..

Yes they are a pain, throw away the clips and just quick grip it :)

I used the clips and didnt find it to hard, once you know how they go on. In saying that I wouldn't bother unless you are looking to do a completely original resto. They are fiddly to put on and I question the strength of the clips and how well they hold the rubber on.

More trouble then they are worth. If i have any problems I'll be using kwik grip instead of buying more clips.

Id go the kwik grip, and as the clips cost, what?, about $1 each its cheaper to buy a litre of kwik grip (which is WAY more then you need just for the rubber, but will last you for ages).

I think my petrol cap seal must be leaking... the rain has been torrential around here for the last week. It's all bad! My boot had a truck load of water in it. Not happy about that.

I had a thread running about the boot seal about 2 weeks ago:

Since we're talking about seals, I'll tack on a question here:
I did my front quarter seals. I've left the door cards off to see how it goes in the rain and I'm getting a lot of water coming into the door from the quarter vent. The water doesn't actually come into the car but it sprays in above the winder mechanism and cause I can get my hand in there I can feel it coming off the bolt that the vent pivots on. Is this meant to happen or have I stuffed up the fitment of the seal?
