Post subject:  Metal Stamp Help!!! SORTED

As a result of going to the RTA Vehicle Examiners as my block had no engine number on it, I have been issued a new engine number. I need to get access to some metal stamps or someone with metal stamps, easy enough you may say.

The RTA specify the characters and numbers must be no less then 7mm in size and do you think I can find any metal stamps larger then 3mm for sale or anyone that may have a set. I dont really want to pay almost $100 for a set of metal stamps that I will never again use but surely someone on here may have a set or know where I can get it done.

Just to push the friendship, preferably in western sydney??????

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Mike,

Passed blueslip on 1st inspection subject to identity check due to the fact the block had no engine number stamped on it. Im sure RTA in their wisdom will find some other reason to cause me grief!

Your kidding me aren't you! No Now I have to put the plates into storage so thats another $50 odd dollars to waste or I risk loosing the plate and then have to pay another $30 to reorder the plate. I guess I better grease up the bot bot before I go back to the RTA so I dont feel the shafting so much!

Without getting too political - a few elements in government, both federal and state, need to step back and realise that governments must provide some things as service. We are a society not just an economy.

As you know, I am sure the RTA fails licence test applicants a couple of times because a licence test is a fee for service based procedure. It may raise funds in the coffer but as a result a number of licence applicants say this is costing too much and do not proceed getting a licence. They keep driving though.

Saw ACA tonight and they "reviewed" the new police number plate camera and although the clip may hae been edited, it seemed as though the police were wheeling in unregistered cars one after another. Why are they unregistered ???? Why do people take the risk driving an unregistered car ???

Scott, this is not directed at you. !! But feel free to comment.

Scott,
I have a stamp set, but not sure of the character size. I'll look after work tomorrow and let you know. I'm sure it's bigger than 3mm but may not be 7mm or greater.
AND, I'm in Western Sydney. Oops, No I'm not, all you car thieves, I live in the eastern suburbs next to BIAM!

Sorry Scott,
Mine's a 3mm stamp set.
My suggestions are:
try Parklea market toolshops on the weekend, or ring a blue slip station or RTA and ask who can do it in your area - when I brought a car up from Melb one time, I was looking like having it done and the RTA quoted me over the phone who in my area could do it. I ended up not having to get it done, but the place they recommended was off Sunnyholt rd.

You could also try the Mudgee Small Farms Field Days which are tomorrow and saturday. Mudgee accomodation is totally booked out with the influx of 30,000 extra people in town, however, I can put you onto some locals who would accommodate you.

Lots of tool houses selling amongst the stalls

Thanks for all the help guys, hopefully I will get this sorted today as I have got onto an engineer that may have the goods  I will keep you posted.

Mike. the thing on ACA, ANPR Automatic Number Plate Recognition camera, its been around for a while now and very very effective. Has a few other uses that I cant really go into.

Cheers,

Scott
