A mate recently managed to pick up a totally original Morris Mini Minor (check the boot badge) that belonged to an old family friend. It is an 850 and came with an original radio, granny visor and rear metal louvres, pudding stick gear lever, rubber mats and is a YMSA 2S2 build, car number 568. The 48,000 miles is genuine and it runs sweetly, blows no smoke, no oil leaks and the gear change has no slop in the linkages. The lady in question won it on a TV show in 1966, the same year it was first registered and it still carries the same plates. It has some of our experts up here stumped when it comes to placing it in a category for show and shine. It is a very tidy unit, no dents or rust and is probably one of only a handful produced in this form. Morris1100 can probably throw more light on this model.

Here is a selection of pics I took today. As you can see the current owner has graced it with some Performnce Minilights. He only has the one complaint about it, no guts hence the purchase of Low-n-blowns beautiful Cooper S.

Is that an 8 Track under the parcel shelf?

Hot damn!!!

Now the fun bit, the car is quite obviously a Mini Minor (poverty pack Deluxe) but the prefix on the plate is a Deluxe prefix (YMA2S2) the Mini Minor should be YMA2S3. I just assume that BMC stamped the plate wrong (not the first time)
The low car number 678 make this the 178th Mini Minor but I have no idea how many they built.

I would be interested in the body number near the radiator and also if it has any other codes stamped on the car.

Yep, that's an 8 track sitting under the dash, don't know if it works, no tapes to try with. The radio is a Phillips push button and it still works, AM only much to the disgust of his daughter.

Morris1100, afaik, the shroud number matches the plate and a quick check on a couple of components, ie wiper motor, coil have dates of 10/64 and 1964 respectively. I haven't probed around it to check on some of the other telling features so you might be able to fill me in there on some of the ones I don't know about apart from these.

Switches
Boot latch
Dizzy
Starter (I forgot to mention, it also has a floor mounted starter button)
Generator
Petrol pump
