g'day jkust wandering when you paint your engine..... im looknig to paint my the original green mini colour if you have to get all the old paint off or what just make iot nice and clean free of all dirt oil grease etc

if it was me i would be cleaning it extremely thourogly, get rid of ALL grease and oil.

then roughly wet rub the old paint, enough to make it smooth obviously!

then prepsol (not degreaser).

paint stics to prepsol, dont let me confuse you. you can degrease but go over before paint with prepsol!

then paint it!

I'd pull it out and beade blast it first. Its amazing how a 40yo engine can look brand new after a beade blast..

The hot tip is engine enamel. 2pac looks great but you can't easily touch it up.

you cant really wet rub an engine

anyway, give it a good clean with degreaser a brush and a pressure hose
then use paint stripper to remove any paint
after cleaning it again
mask up areas you dont want painted, use old plugs in the head
prime it and then paint it avoiding the gearbox casing as its alloy.
use engine paint also.
