Hello all, Alright I need to find this out for sure. Was there ever an 1100 LS made? As far as I know there was only the 998 and 1275LS? Can someone please shed some light on this for me? Thanks Lynda |

Correct , only 998LS and 1275 LS , by the time they started the SS and LS they weren't making 1100 motors anymore I think . |

Only if he didn't have his glasses on when he read the numbers . As far as I know the 1100 motor was discontinued before Leyland tried the limited edition SS?LS so it shouldn't be possible . It may well be a Leyland mini 1100 with matching numbers that someone has put LS stripes and badges on and he doesn't know the difference . |

i'm pretty sure the 1098cc was discontinued in 1975, the SS came out in 1976 and the LS in 1977 i think. |

1098 discontinued in 1975. So what do the numbers match? The ADR plate on Mini Clubmans didn't have the engine number on them so the only thing the engine number is likely to match are the rego papers (one would hope) |

Maybe he means he has a 1275LS, which has an 1100S motor in it standard. |

Yes but technically it isn't an 1100S motor in the 1275LS, it is a 1275. 1100S motors were only in the Morris 1100S ![]() |

And it was a poor name choice by BMC for a 1275 motor in a Morris 1100 body. It still confuses some people..... 40 years later! BTW there isn't a lot of difference between the 1100S motor and the 1275LS, apart from the smog gear on the latter. Blocks are near identical. |
