Post subject: | Fuel Overflow. |
Hey all, seem to be having a bit of a problem. I am getting a lot of fuel comming out of the float bowl on the old Su carby (even when at idle). Had the problem before, took off the lid, pulled out the float and cleaned it all up (cleaned the float hinge as well) and it seems to be having the same problem. What do you think? Gasket? Float? What should i be replacing? Any help is appreciated. ![]() |

Has the float level been set to the correct height? You may need to buy a new float valve and gasket if all this is fine and you are using a stock fuel pump. Perhaps the old valve is not sealing anymore and allows the level to get too high. |

What Mick said - the valve and seat wear and a new set will make all the difference - while you are at it make sure the float is set at the right height - There is an SU Manual on the "Almost Ultimate Mini CD" |

I had this issue recently, 1) Check fuel float height 2) Check the condition of the needle and seat valves 3) Check the movement of the fuel floats, do they wobble around (splashing fuel) 4) Check the condition of the fuel floats, are they cracked, filling with fuel etc? 5) Replace the gaskets, if these are hard they will seep fuel. Oh, what fuel pump are you using? |
