Hi all, As i begin my search for a suitble resto car, i have found that alot suffer rust along the seems, my question relate's to the size of this problem, most cars dont appear from the outside to be huge, but i imagine its a tough spot to work on it? any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Well as we don't know where you are....if you are in the northern hemisphere it could be a major problem...but if you are in Australia then it usually is treatable. You carefully remove the seam covers, they are brazed top and bottom and held on by clips and then you can see the extent of the problem..... |

Remember, rust is like icebergs, only 1/7th is visible above the surface. Its never better than it looks! Tim |

Although... I had a few rust bubbles around the seams and fearing the worse I took the seam covers off (only held on by clips, no brazing) and took to the rust bubbles with a 3M wheel. It actually wasn't as bad as I feared and needed no welding |

I find the seams themselves are seldom a problem, bad rust starts next to the seams... ![]() patch time, unless you are spending more $$$ and replacing panels.... |

Don't know where you are either Buddy ![]() But anyway....has anyone else seen seam covers just clipped on then painted from the factory ![]() ![]() ![]() |
