What temp (farenheit), is a mini meant to run at once warmed up. Also would it matter if there is a 2cm gap between the radiator and where the air comes into the engine bay, through the side? My moke runs at 175 farenheit once warmed up, I was just wondering if I should also put some kind of shield from the radiator to the outside air, so that it is not recycling air from the engine bay.

between the rad and the schroud there shoud be a rubber clark rubber have them it is about two inches wide

Makka's right- but it does bugger all, later UK cars did away with it completely, and had an even bigger gap there.

There is a low pressure area in the front wheelarch when moving- so no, you are not recycling the air really. :wink:

175 fahrenheit is around the 80 degree celsius mark, so it should be fine on that temp.

i try to keep under 200 farra, or 93 cel

but it does go above sometimes
i dont think it would be too much of a worry, boiling/cavitation of the coolant mixture goes up to about 160 degrees celcius
cavitation is when it gets so hot that bubbles being to form and the pressure could root your engine

With a 13psi cap, it won't boil or cavitate until well over 230*F! At 175F... no problem. 8)

I just put an 82* thermostat in it and it was running perfectly on the mid-point on the smiths guage. It took about 5 minutes to get to that temperature. This was with the lucas dizzy.

Since I've put the pulsar dizzy in the car, I've found that it takes a lot lot longer to get to temp and generally runs a bit below the mid-point when I've managed to catch a few lights in a row. Sits on the mid-point when its been idling for ages though. I wonder why this is?

Hmm..what's the supposed range for the stock smiths guage in a clubby? mine sits right on the N normally, maybe a bit below..but in traffic today (bloody hail storms) sat in the M5 tunnel for agggges and it crept pretty high..

Yea heard, couple of bike, semi and what not? I ride a bike so i can totally relate..probably wasn't wise to ride in that weather.

Took me nearly two hours to get from Mascot to Glenfield..RE-13 wasn't too bad in the traffic, can notice a little bit lost down low, but it's all worth it when she comes on :wink:

My wife...Sorry Morris is also in Mascot Monday to frinday...also with a RE13 cam and it seems to be good alround

The M5 situaltion was not pritty :cry: yer it took you time to get home but atleast you are there :idea:
