Post subject:  Fibreglass Sportspack Arches

What are peoples opinions on fitting these? I cannot get genuine sportspack arches anymore, and the new version are rubber, which won't work to well with blending into the car.

From a recent phone conversation, the poor fitment came from the rear arches, and that the front arches weren't too bad. Is this the case? If so, I'm thinking of getting a set and just modding the rear arches. I'm quite competent with fibreglassing, so I don't think it will be too much of a drama.

Or does anyone know where I can get some genuine arches?

I'm completely opposed to using the rubber ones, so its either genuine or something else.

We got some of the rubber type in ARCH001.....
They are a lot better than the fibreglass type in shape, but would need a fair amount of pre paint work.....IMO
Best of a bad lot as far as I am concerned.

ahh well yes hmmmmmmm :P

its do able, be prepared to "attack" witha n angle grinder, lots of swearing!

i ripped about 4 of teh bolts out of the guards.(which ill just eurothane back in). the fronts fitteed ok, they didnt fit anywhere near the arch diagrams you get of the net. so i ahd a few extra holes

rears needed alot of cuts to stretch it back out to the desired shape, and had to fibreglass them whilst they were on the car so it would keep its shape, they still shrunk once it had set and was taken off.
i have some pics uploading ill post them in a minute!

OK, so its definitely doable with the fibreglass ones then. At the moment I'm trying to track down some genuine ones, but if not, I'll got the fibreglass ones and mod them I think, better than making my own from scratch.

I was under the impression the genuine ones are abs or some sort of flexible plastic, just not fibreglass.

They aren't RUBBER they are a mouldable PVC type plastic.

They aren't rubber in the conventional sense, the paint wouldn't stick,
they are a rubbery/plastic compound.
They're just reffered to as rubber sometimes to distinguish them from the fibreglass and
plastic copies that are out there.
:D
