hey all after breaking the toggle that lets me flick between high and low beams on my indicator stalk, i was wondering if would be legal for me to put a switch like the one below in my dash on the left hand side of the steering wheel. I would need it to pass a roaadworthy inspection that i need to get before i register it next month. Any ideas?? I was thinking that it should be ok, if you can have a foot dip switch why not an illuminated one in your dash???

Good question, the only issue I could see that might cause problems is that you have to take a hand from the wheel to dip the hi beam, floor switches you use your foot.

I wouldn't get ya hopes up on passing the rw with it. I mean they'll complain about it not being standard equipment, with no real point to not having it on the indicator stalk.

I know this is a bitch, cause I know how much new stalks cost. Have ya tried Mini Mac, he might have a second hand one laying around?

I gave up fitting s/h ones years ago. They are all stuffed, one way or another. :cry:
I'd buy a new one, and a headlamp relay. This will reduce the current thru the switchgear to bugger-all, and it will probably outlast the car! :lol:

Interesting question

The answer would be specific to which state rles you are under so best ask your local authorities.

My guess would be they would say no - because of the danger and delay in getting to the switch to avoid blinding an oncoming driver at night with your highbeams.

I'd go the foot switch route. They are really simple and in my opinion a lot safer to operate than even the stalk switch.

I have done that to a few Of mine and some mates and yep no troubles since it was done works well.
