Ok, just got my car back from the Mini King yesterday(Saturday),getting the carbies sorted out, took it for a good rap in the arvo and all was hunky dory, big smiles all around . Gets up nice and early today for the run up to pie in the sky, fill up with x-power fuel(hope i haven't given any brand a bad name ), and within 10 mins my car is running like shite , I managed to get the car back home and after draining my tank and filling up with clean fuel the car is back to normal . I went up to the servo that I got the fuel from only to be told that they have had no other complaints...... , and then was given a 1300 number to call and voice my complaint, now I know it was only $20 worth but geez that makes me angry, has any one else had this problem lately in the Sydney area?

V-Power is known to foul the plugs up on older cars - It's great for modern engines with big spark and fuel injection, not so good for mini's.

Optimax was the same as V-Power is just a reformulated/rebadged veresion.

I'm running V-Power 100 in the 4EFTE and it's awesome stuff, wouldn't put it in the mini though..

Stick to BP Ultimate, Mobil 9000, Vortex 98 etc

I filled Barney with V-Power last week up the mountains, he's still running fine. Topped up today with BP98 and still ran the same. I reckon you just got a bad batch...

Yeah, thats what I think Kev, I have used V-power berfore without any problems, but that has scared me away from using it, at least from that servo anyway.....

From a servos perspective, they rarely pay out a single complaint unless there is more than one complaint, if you can prove that your tank is in top condition or your tank didnt have fuel from another servo in it.

If it was a high volume site, then dodgy fuel would be in several cars...resulting in several complaints.

If its just one car, then more than likely its just the car not liking the fuel OR you had crap in your tank that just got stirred up.

The company I work for owns several servos and if they know that their fuel was the cause of any damage to a car, they WILL pay to fix it. In the time I have been here (12 months) they have only paid for one rebuild. We had a servo diesel tank with water in it, how the water got into the tank is still a mystery, but either way, they paid for all repairs to the customers car.

Too many people out there claiming fuel did damage to their car, hoping for some free repairs. Not saying you are one of them at all, but they are out there and have made it difficult for those that DO get dodgy fuel.

happens to me all the time ...im in doncaster melbourne area...i drive a suzuki swift. 2005...and at least once a month i get dody fule..and i used to get the same problem when i drive my mini too....webbers hate crap fule ...as do twin su....nothing pisses people off more than paying good moneyfor fule and getting the dregs from the bottom of the tank....can be nasty for efi....have heared can block....injectors???and i no when i get it in the swift as it runs like crap for the first 5 min or so untill the computer trys to fix the problem....well this is what i was told buy my local mechanics.
all i can suggest is to buy the top line fule and hope for the best..but then again this wont help if the stations tank is running on low and ya get all the crap from the bottom of there tank.

Its not when they are are running low thats its the problem, its when they have just had a delivery that is the problem. Putting thousands of litres of fuel stirs up sediment and mixes it throughout the fuel, it needs a couple of hours to settle.

The pickup pipe doesnt go to the very bottom of the tank, there is anywhere from 2000L to a few hundre litres of unusable fuel/liquid in the bottom of a tank. This allows for any water that collects in the tank due to condensation, all the water sits in the bottom of the tank below the draw point.

So its running fine now, thats a good thing last thing you want is to keep investigating as to why its spluttering. $20 well worth of trouble easy fixed.
I wish some of my problems were as simple.

its a bad fuel, I always have problems with it. its okay if you use it and just do a long bit of highway work, but the problem comes when you leave your car idliing for ages or warm it up in the morning or get stuck in traffic... then its a worry.

Yeah Mick, its fine now, I took a quick run up the freeway to meet the guys at Pie in the sky and she went fine..

yeah it was good to see gerg pull in at pie in the sky with smiles but if he had listened earliar and drained it at the maccas and refueld at the caltex servo he would of enjoyed the canyon run would of been funny seeing u try and keep up lol
