Post subject:  WSID results, Trophy and competitor presentation TONIGHT
Firstly I would like to apologise for taking so long to get these results up.

Secondly, Russell Engineering and Mini Classic have very kindly sponsored trophies for winners of each class.

The trophies will be handed out at the next general meeting in five dock for the Mini Car CLub of NSW:

Friday, 7th September 2007
All members and friends welcome
Veteran Car Club of Australia Hall,
134 Queens Rd Five Dock.
Arrive 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start. All welcome.

EVERY COMPETITOR will recieve a brass badge from the two sponsors of the event to commemorate the first ever Mini night at the runs. There will be many more.
Please let me know if you cant come.

Turbo A-Series - Ben Schnebbs
BMW MINI - Phil East
Quickest Lady - Anke

To note here - Graham Russells 1401 (Driven by Grieg Malure) Stroker was actually tthe quickest Mini on the night, and his 998 was also the winner of its class, but as he is sponsoring the trophies he does not want the trophy going to him, so the second place getters of that class will be the trophy recipients

PLEASE make and effort to get along to the meeting in september so we can all have a run down and support two very generous Mini businesses.

All very interesting. The fastest Mini was not the the most powerful. Driver skill perhaps? Or just big bore torque! 8)

I should have said quickest Mini not fastest.

As the 4EFTE Mini reached 152kph, and 1100T made 142kph.

Most likely too much wheels spin. If that was the case and if wheel spin was reduced these cars have the potential for very impressive times as a final speed of 152kph (approx 95mph) is probably, with a good traction, from what I've read about Mini's in the UK, good for about 14 second pass, most likely not into the 13s I wouldn't think?

The 1401 N/A was slightly quicker due to reaction time.

15.247 as opposed to 15.264, but the quickest car, had a reaction of 0.217 and the turbo Mini ad a reaction of 1.441.

I wasnt including Bens car in that equation for that very fact!

The quickest 1275 was Graham Russels Stroker and was on a single SU
The quickest N/A small bore was Grahams 998 Van on a single SU
The Second Quickest small bore was my 998 on a Single SU

The reaction time doesn't count towards the time for street meets. The timer starts when you start, so that's irrelevant.

I'll put my money on it that next year we will see 4EFTE mini's dip into the 12s.

Greig though is a racedriver so you'd give him a little edge over us mere mortals..

Angelos 4EFTE would get better times with some decent tires and a wheel alignment. With those 13x7's, the body kit and stereo it also weighs around ~800kg+? - I believe it was making around 130-140 at the wheels that day.

Brad already proved that a mini with a 4EFTE and crap tyres with not much more than 150hp atw can run a 13.8 - end of story. It also ran multiple 14-15sec 1/4's so it's not something that's easily replicated either.

Ok, I didn't know that about the timing, that's cool.

Onto drag times....

There's no running drag strip in SA, so no point thinking too much about it down here. :(

But, I have been reading turbominis forum a lot recently as they've had the 'Quickest Mini in the World' event, and coming up soon is Mini's in the Park (now at a drag strip..not in any park now...).

Anyways, there have been low 13 second runs on street tyres, and some people are aiming for the elusive 12 second pass on street tyres. I believe it's achieve able, but would need one hell of a sorted out car.

just goes to show that you can run a street driveable A sereis motor from 1940's technology and design and still beat a modern japanese car.
I Love it, good on ya mate graham and grieg.

maybe i can come over and compete next time or we will have our own thing here soon and im building a single SU drag car to prove 13 second passes are not impossible seeing as 100hp thru an SU is impossible i hear, haha.

hey greig a 13.999 is still a 13 second pass and in a car that weighs under 400kgs why not?

I have a mate who has run a 15.2 second pass at 6800ft abouve sea level in a mini even got it on video so nothing is impossible as you ran it with a slipping clutch i hear.
