Post subject:  clutch replacement

I was thinking of replacing the clutch in my car myself, I was wondering if its hard to replace the clutch in a round nose mini, if any special tools are required or is it just fiddly to do due the lack of room. Any feedback or ideas from others that have done this before I attempt in starting the job

Or

Should I just get it done by a mechanic?

you need a torque wrench and a flywheel puller, fiddly job, but as long as you follow the workshop manual to the letter, it's not that hard

About two hours if you know what you are doing and you have all the tools. (I have done one in 45 minutes)
A couple of days if you don't know what you are doing.

It would be so much easier with a hoist!

Getting some of the bolts on the flying cover off can be hard. But really just fiddly. Takes a lot time if you have no idea, (like me and my dad did), but the workshop manuals help, a lot!

Getting the wheel off, on tow seperate engines for me has been easy using a flywheel puller from eBay. I've heard of others having big issues but time and patience will get it off. (Correct tools helps too  )

Thanks for the advice

I will take the car to a mate’s mechanical workshop as he has a hoist and if I get stuck he will help me out

Cheers
