I have seen some bubbles comming up here and their so to is got the screw driver out Result 
Not to bad considering I have seen a lot worse. I't looks like the PO has done some draising before they did the crap paint job. I'm expecting this to be fixed with just some wels and rubbing back |

Jim, cut it out until you get clean metal all round, then weld a patch in. Otherwise, it'll just keep coming back. 
Trust me- I owned 2 Valiants...

Bugger ow well do it rite the first time 
its okay I know a good welder, he does it for a job. front drivers side seam and sills are the next place I look tomorrow..little more worried about these |

I fitted a sill, that was all. And poured about 5L of fishoil through it...
As for the 1st one (I bought new in Jan `69) it got rust under the windscreen trim within 12 months. And it just got worse from there.

like others have said, if that rust is there... there is sure to be more behind it. check out surrounding areas, spray fish oil in there and weld it back up if the other metalwork is ok. |

Rust is heavier than metal- cut it all out and you'll go fasterrrrrrrr..

Kings School has been and gone but Gannons is around the Corner. The rust area's that I know of are slowley progressing and the further I look i see a few more bubb;;es as the PO didn't do the rite thing as well as doing a bad (thin) paint job. Spring is around the corner and so is Summer so its perfect time to start. Sue will how ever will have to drive around in a patch work paint for a while as she will not allow her belovered off the road We'll go for Rust and Dust or Encoragment at Gannons

I'm expecting this to be fixed with just some wels and rubbing back Is that also a crack in the paint work,under the door hinge?If so that can only mean one thing..."white ants". ooh I also owned a VC Valiant a long time ago and yes they had a few issues with rust
