at the moment my mini is on 10" jellybean mags, i was thinking of getting 13" * 5.5" rims for it and selling the jellies to a friend

Image

im also wanting to put disks on the front, is it worth holding out till after i get the wheels for bigger disk brakes, would that be cheaper or the same cost as putting on the 7" cooper s disks?

my vans turning cirlce isnt that great for a mini, would this have a big effect on it and how owuld i fix that?

i'm also going to have to either stiffen the front suspension or cut the body panel from under the flares cause the wheels scrub as it is when im pushing it, 75k round 35k recommended corners. how can you not love a car that can do that!?

with 113s, you have higher whells, so therefore, u will have alot of scrapeage.

you will needto cut the guards.

what suspention have you got?

cones or hydrospastic?

the rolling radius of the tyre needs to be the same as the 10's you have now, but the wheels are wider, and will scrub against the forward edge of the guard when turning, so you'll have to cut your guards or run a very high ride height.

also sounds like your mini is a bit low if its scraping?

wait until you have 13's because then you can get 8.4" disc brakes which are cheaper.

Before you buy the 13s, see if someone will be kind enough to let you drive a mini with 13s.

I've got 12" wheels, and after having driven a mini with 10" wheels, I must say that with the 10s the handling is a lot sharper and responsive.

ok i have driven mine around and a friends with 12's to get a feel for it but his is a sedan and mine is a van, they felt about equal, my van felt a bit softer but from that i'd expect that the 10's are a bit better for that, but i think thats more to do with width of the tires than anything?

So the 13's will go on some time in the next few weeks as well as 8 1/4" disks then i will have a set of jelly's for sale. . . im thinking i might use the suspension off my clubby to raise the front up a bit and sell the hi-lo's what do you think?

Ben I think some of that also has to do with your rover subframes being rubber mounted, that makes it nice and comfy for a slow-poke like you ;) but less direct steering is a result as the subframe squirms on the mounts..

Personally 10's feel better at the limit because the sidewall has so much give and the handling characteristics are better because the 10" wheel tire combo is so light.

well after a lot of dissapointing moments i actually found someone who can deliver these wheels to the mini stud pattern.

Thankyou Canterbury Tyre and mag centre.

Everybody else (aand i asked like ten places) said they couldnt do it. so i'm getting my wheels at the end of the month for 1400 (includes tyres) as well as the 8.25" disk brakes.

now for a supercharger . . . :P

did someone say supercharger?

i think low profile tyres are better for performance, the sidewall does not flex which makes for a more predictable level of grip and sharper response.
ride comfort is decreased though.

weight is a big issue, the 13's weigh alot which hurts performance and increases the effort to turn the wheels.
