17/62 =3.64
17/64 =3.76
The 3.44 will give you more top end and better fuel economy when cruzin
The 3.77 will give faster take off and when cruzin engine will rev higher
I would go for the 3.44 diff

heyy i have a 1310 engine and i have taken the gearbox out, i was just wondering whats the best ratio for an engine like this, iv got the racing ratio on atm but my top speed isnt the best lol i have these diffs so, 17/62 17/64 18/62 i would just like more top end speed and not so much hi revs thankz |

The 18/62 is a 3.44 so that'll be better than the other two if you want lower cruising revs. Cheers, Simon |

well i want a bit of both lol i like the quick take off bcoz it munches all the cars and people just go WTF do u have in ur car lol so 17/62 =3.64 would be lil more top end and less hi revs ? thankz |

I'm a fan of the 3.444, not too long, not too short, just right. A 1310, providing it's all well and good, should have enough power and torque to get moving at a decent pace, and still keep 100kph below 4000rpm. Depends what you want the car for? Cruising or zooming around at low speed? Still either way I'd go 3.444. |

Like wise, the higher the number, eg 3.64, 3.8 etc the higher the rpm at any speed will be, but the car will accelerate faster. NOTE - Actual top speed won't change or may get less with longer diff (lower number) as the engine will have to work harder to achieve those speeds, I think. |

I put a 3.647 in my 1275 Moke when I was replacing the half-moon crankcase oilseal (up from the std. 4.267). I now wish I'd put in a 3.444.

you have 13 inch wheels by the look of it, if this is the case then all these diffs will be useless to you, far to long... i have a 4.3 in my race car with 13's which means its doing 170 at 8000 odd rpm in 4th 3.44 which is what it had in it made it almost impossible to get the car to 4th gear it wasnt powerful enough. |

But don't you have really big tyres, Meeni? With 13s, they aren't all that bigger (if bigger at all??) in diametre. The 12s on my Leyland are slightely bigger, than standard 10s with standard size tyres, but not by much. My 10x6 wheels have tyres very slightely smaller, just slightely. So with 13s wouldn't they only be slightely bigger, therefore almost the same? Appart from being heavier, not allt hat different? |

Are we talking max speed on a race track or Street If track you would want max speed and Rpm's @ 200 or 100 of the Logest straigh or and division on the mutiple of straignts and then it does depend on the number of bend's before its really a matter oif experiance of he trace and car set up 3.64 at a Guess |
