Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the new alloy hinge sets and what the pro's and con's are with them please. Thanks.

well they arnt really new, they have been around for quite a while, not really popular because of the cost factor, obviously being cast alloy they are quite strong and possibly lighter and they wont rust. i believe they still use a brass sleeve.
i've seen some in person, but personaly i wouldnt get them. are you having issues with your hinges?

I've got them from Mini Sport - they are expensive, but very good.

It's probably more important to get the alloy boot hinges, lowering the weight behind the rear wheels thus reducing the horrendous oversteer that minis are renowned for. :D

Thanks for the info all. I know they are expensive but I need to get some anyway and thought it might be a better option than buying second hand ones and having to repin them.

The re-pin kits are about 50 bucks for your hinges and if you don't got a set of hinges, I have a number of spares if you want to reconsider

$50 will do all 4 hinges - the bush is about $4 and the pin is about the same
