What is roughly the idle speed for my 1275. Going by my tacho & i know that it's not 100% accurate my idle wasnt even registering so i have set it at about 750 - 800 RPM. Does this sound about right

I was talking to someone yesterday who rebuilds mini engines and gearboxes about this and he said the idle speed will be higher if you have changed to a mild cam. I have a 1275 S bored to 1310 with mild wade cam (so I was told but havent looked yet) and he said it should idle higher than the factory 725 or so, up around 850 or even more especiallly once it has warmed up. Dont know if that helps.

Some books quote 500rpm. I find that's far too low, and you'll be running on choke for a lot longer, especially on a cold day.

I run 900-1100 on mine, depending on what the temp is, I set it for an average 1000rpm, but mine is supercharged and seems to need the extra rpm or it can die.

But with the N/A Mini, I run around 600-700rpm, which feels good and doesn't die.

i have to run like 1200 on mine because of the big cam and the hunting idle from the supercharger :(

When I first got my car going it had this hunting idle, and I thought it was kinda cool. But it dissappeared after I got my car tuned, oddly.

But if I idle it low it does it to a small degree, so, for my setup It goes well around 1000, give or take, but it prefers give.

As you would know, I don't have a very lumpy cam at all.

My very worked 1132 with big cam wants around 1400rpm... too low isnt good with a big cam.

My stroker 1430 with an RE-13 which is a fairly hot cam - is happy on 1100. Probably a tad more in winter to make up for the variations in temperature.
