Post subject:  how to?

Is it hard to change your front rotors. Have basically changed everything else and they look a bit thin(5-6mm cooper s disks). Will be putting car on the road within a month, so just wanting to know if it is a big job, or is it pretty straight forward?

Also I am replacing my front hydro bags (once I find some)< would it be easiest to do both jobs together?

Thanks, steve

Easy job to do with the right socket. No need to take the hub or anything else off, in fact it makes removing the nut easier if it is on the car.

The wheel is removed, the large nut on the end of the driveshaft is removed (get someone to stand on the brakes while you do this, it helps a lot) and remove the large split washer contersunk into the face behind the bolt.. The disc will then slide off the hub once the calliper is unbolted.

The four countersunk screws in the flange are removed (impact wrench may be needed) and the disc comes away from the drive flange.

Reassemble in reverse order. Make sure that the large axle nut is tightened up properly once you are done.

The hydro bags are a bigger job and need a differnet approach. Taking the wheel hubs off will definitely help as you will need to remove the top arm to get the hydro bags out.

Cool thanks. Do I have to take the whole hub off for the hydro bags or can I just drop the top ball joint?

Perhaps, but it would be in your way. With all that metal swinging in the breeze, it's going to hang off your flexible brake line.
It may break (or worse still damage it slightly but not obviously) if you're not careful.

usually when I do something that requires splitting the ball joints, I take the caliper off and hang it on a piece of wire off something else (subframe etc), keeps the brake line safe, and the caliper out of the way
