I bought my socket and adaptor from 'The Tool Man' next to Paddy's Market, near Mawsome lakes on Main North Road. The bloke who runs the place is nice, and helpful. Also it's the steering wheel socket too, so I think it's worth the buy. And it won't cost all that much, really. For good quality.
A torque wrench, however, that's another kettle of fish. I've seen you can buy cheap ones from Supercrap from between $20-$150, some higher. I wouldn't touch the $20....ever. It is vital that the wrench is accurate and doesn't over tighten (could break import stuff) or under tighten (could fall off while driving!). I would save up and buy a good quality, proper brand one. My dad has a really good one so I borrow that, I think you'll need to find a mate (or parents?) who has one and borrow it, as they are very important. And when you buy one, you'll have it for life, but you need the money to get one in the first place.
Call some nice mates, I can't lend you my dad's (his rules, for good reason), unless you brought the breaks up to my house to work on it I guess.
