Hey Lads and Ladies

Just a quickie. I'm looking to build an engine for my mini (when i wife lets me and comes to grip with the costs involved, hopefully next year some time), and i was wondering if anyone one knows of a good engine builder (mini experienced/fanatic) in Brisbane, or in any of the majors really, but closer the better.

I'm looking to go the 1275 bored to 1300 with twin 40 Weber's with 36 chokes etc etc or perhaps stick with the 1100cc, i am still tossing up on this. I don't want to do a conversion because i like the old style of the engine and want to keep its as much mini as i can. I was toying with the idea of Supercharger/turbo but there is nothing quite like the whhaaaappp whaaaapppp of a twin weber fed engine.

I have read up on what people are doing out there re13 cams etc etc, but i decided that building an engine is better in the long run than adding little bits on here and there and ending up with something that your not quite happy with.

Any info and/or advice is much appreciated, in other words "feed me your knowledge

Cheers

Brendan "I passed a car on the highway the other day" Jones

P.S Err it was not so quick after all, sorry about that"

you have me on th twin Webber..but would surgest to you a single 40 or better would be a 45.
I would also say go the RE13 otherwise you will confuse yourself with all the others outthier. Trust us they are a great cam all roand and work well with a Dellorto/Webber.
1275...ruffly the same price for a rebuild except the addition of the purchase price of the engine.
Get the Crank crack tested and rods ensure they are Straight
Thats all till someone wants to sy no to what I have said
I'm doing all the above except the Dellort as i have a HIF44 alread on the present 1152 we are running with a RE13
Ow and Make sure you get the Gear box recond al;so

Not according to Sir Vizard.. he suggests two 40DCOE's modified so that each uses only one choke is the ultimate setup for a fast Mini. Sounds like a great way to spend a lotta $$$ if you ask me...

If you keep your eye's out you can pick up a 1275 rather cheaply and still run your 1100 untill you have the 1275 is ready which is what I'm doing.
But I have the luxtury of knowing I only have to do 1 or 2 things to the box as it has been cond.
I want touch on the cams any further as I have said my little bit and I'm sure others will add to it. Regarding to the gear change pattern..No

Matt Read aka The Mini Man is the only one in Brisbane you'd want to go to...

"The mini Experience" has run a great article on small bore re-builds by Graham Russell and Paul Gulson in Beaudesert (Gulsonpower) also is very adept at building them. The 998 is a very strong reliable motor and with 1275's extremely hard to get, a properly prepared 998 is a good alternative.

I did find this 1275 one on e-bay today and it is in Brisbane.

and a 998

If wifey  lets you loose with the money, a good motor will come your way.
