There were some classic American cars a while back on ebay as well with "preapproved bidders only" where you had to email them to be approved to bid on the auctions , there was a 70's supercharged vette show car for $6,000 , a similar quality mustang for $7,000, they both sold to the one bidder with no other bids and the seller was then unregistered by ebay ....

naw its straight phishing.

I wanted a LC GTR. The perfect car came up and was less than $8K. Wife okay so I sent a message to the guy. He came back and said the car was in Lismore but he was in Germany. Stuck there with a new job and resettling, hence the reason he was selling the car. He said once i deposited the money into his account he would give me the address of the person holding the keys to the garage where the perfect LC GTR was.

Pulled the pin on that one !!!

I hate to say but I know someone who fell for it. Exactly the same situation except it was a Monaro and the fellow was in the former Yugoslavia...

He went in with his eyes wide open, he'd been told that it was a con by all his work mates, but he decided that maybe this was his once in a lifetime opportunity and if he missed it he would kick himself. So he went and gave the spanker 10 grand. There's no helping some it would seem.
