hey guys i have just purchased a 1275 motor but it has a wierd engine number it 12h_c2uhzcc15c3 i think theres a number or letter missing between the h and c can't make out what it is any help. cheers |

I think you need to clean it up and have another look. I would almost bet that the "c"s are "0"s.

sorry. i went and cleaned up the numbers today with a wire wheel and the nunber goes 12HC2UHZCC15C3 the c's are definatly c's not 0's maybe it has been stamped wrong i don't know any ideas. ill try post a pic of the number and motor later on. cheers dan |

I looked at a Sprite for sale a while back which has engine number 12HC at the start. It was a 1275, obviously. |

I'm no expert on engine numbers but the H in 12HC should stand for high compression so it should be a good'un |

I think it's a 1300 Metro engine. But I don't know about anything after 12HC, if that is infact the first 2 letters. 12H is very vague as many 1275 engines either have just that as there prefix or 12H* (where * is another letter). |

my metro 1300 engine is 12hd09, this one could be a different year though. |

wait until the UK dudes chime in... I think it's a Metro donk too. ![]() Is it an A+, ie dizzy held in with 1 bolt and a finger clamp (just like GM/Ford Chrysler?) |

sounds like it to me, 1275 A+ motor, made in the 80's and likely low KM's, maybe even unbored. |

all A+ motors are good. All 1275 A series are good. I run one of each... ![]() Best Metro one (apart from turbo) was the MG Metro, had 72HP I think with 1 carby. |
