I think you need to clean it up and have another look. I would almost bet that the "c"s are "0"s.
I would need all the digits in the correct case to get it worked out. (12H not 12h  )

I looked at a Sprite for sale a while back which has engine number 12HC at the start. It was a 1275, obviously.

I'm no expert on engine numbers but the H in 12HC should stand for high compression so it should be a good'un

I think it's a 1300 Metro engine. But I don't know about anything after 12HC, if that is infact the first 2 letters.

12H is very vague as many 1275 engines either have just that as there prefix or 12H* (where * is another letter).

Is it an A+, ie dizzy held in with 1 bolt and a finger clamp (just like GM/Ford Chrysler?)

sounds like it to me, 1275 A+ motor, made in the 80's and likely low KM's, maybe even unbored.

all A+ motors are good. All 1275 A series are good. I run one of each...
Best Metro one (apart from turbo) was the MG Metro, had 72HP I think with 1 carby.
