  Ran out of fuel on Grenfell Street (middle of the city) coming home from "work". I thought my fuel pump had shat itself, because it would still start after it stalled itself from fuel starvation...

Ok so call dad, and he brings a can of fuel... fill up and off i go... hang on; fark its not starting. Stoopid SU fuel pumps - took about 10 cranks to get enough fuel up- i ran the tank dry!

So thats my thing for today.

Farken Lucas fuel gauge :o

My wife has done that a number of times. I now have the Electric fuel pump on the Rear seat wall...She now knows the sound it makes when no fuel is reaching the Pump

Serves ya right willy.

So now you know, after running your tank dry, turn the ignition on for 10 seconds before you start it.

Cmon, its a mini..... you should expect the gauges to be incorrect. 1/2 full = fill up time.

If you get a facet fuel pump, you'll never need to turn your stereo on again

A hint with electric pumps... Keep your mechanical, and wire the electric into a switch. Turn the pump on when ya go to start the car (leave it going for a bit), then turn it off once the car is running.

It's even better for a car that doesn't get driven much!
