As in the title, should there be a seal where the pinion comes through the body at the firewall? I've just gotta paint the U bolts and the rack can go in. |

Yes there's a bit of foam goes in there. I used a bit of polyurethane foam 1/4" thick, just cut it out with scissors. |

If you buy a spindle of CD's or DVD's, you get a round foam type of thing on the top of the spindle, the size of a 20c piece and 1/4 inch thick. Even has the right size hole in the middle of it. PERFECT for what you need. ![]() |

Tou want some foam with body in there, not that soft CD crap.... it'll just soak up water, if it doesn't shrink and fall out... ![]() |

The stuff in my CD spindle looks and feels like neoprene - like wet suit material - won't soak up anything ![]() |
