I think I recall rivetted rims being discussed, but I can't recall the detail. When were they replaced with the welded type? I have one spare rivetted type if anybody wants one. Regards Al |

The riveted rims were the early wheels fitted to minis. They were indeed replaced by later welded types. |

In the beginning, 850s had thin wheel centres, rivetted to the rim. After they started breaking in competition the centres were made thicker, but they were still rivetted. I think spot welding replaced the rivets somewhere around 1963. I would NOT run tubeless tyres on rivetted rims, as they may not be airtight. Back then all tyres had tubes in. ![]() |
