Post subject:  seriously considering SELLING OUT

I'm seriously considering selling out of the mini owners club. I need the money if i wish to go traveling over the summer holidays. I actually never planned on putting the car on the road, but last time i got back from travel, i had no job and so worked on my beast instead :).

I'm after some advice, its a 63 850, which i have tried to keep fairly original. That means not drilling holes where they shouldn't be and not tossing out the original engine. The only holes I've really put in it, are the ones to attach the flares to that rim that the chrome strip goes over, so no big deal.

Do I try and sell it as an 850, with the 850 engine in it, as original as possible, or do i sell it as is, with the engine in a corner and a mild 1100 12g295 as well as the spacers and wide wheels. I have fears if i do this.. the 850 engine, which was running great last i used it (no smoke), will just be basically tossed aside and lost. Keeping in mind that the original 850 interior trim was is in bad condition, so it hasn't been placed back in.

Some of you guys are probably (maybe) aware of what my mini looks like.

Seems as if i've hardly taken any pics with the flares on it, so that'll have to do.
I'm not so into cars anymore... this has been on my mind for a long time, so its no small decision. I've had this car for 7 years. Rego is expiring in a week, but I'll probably top it up. If i sell it, all my parts will go *sob*

Feel free to lend me advice and send your commiserations.
Thanks guys

sad to hear it, i guess we might all reach a stage where we want to move on, i definitely have a couple of times.. i guess if i could sell mine for what i still owe on it i would consider it.

i dont think it really matters how you sell it, the value is there.
The 1100 is more useable, but the 850 is for originality..
maybe advertise it to club members and enthusiasts, as they are more likely to preserve its originality?

she looks like a good mini, is that tartan red? i have an 850 for restoration thats supposed to be that colour.

It doesn't matter how you sell it (ie, with 850 in it or the 1100) you can't guarantee its future. Once it has a new owner they can do whatever they want with it.

As Spaceboy said, try to sell it to an enthusiast, they will be more likely to appreciate originality.

Cheers

sad to see the 850 go but like they said....sell to mini enthusiasts and hope for the best.

better yet why not take her with you, a romantic holiday with your 850?

I too gave up on my mini's a long time ago. But as you can see, when my son bought his, the flame was re-ignited.

Never say never :)

Sad to see you sell, but if i had money i'd be interested :(

All the best.

Hopefully you will get a new owner who will appreciate it and not toss out the 850!!

My Traveller still has it's original 850 and I will probably fit a 1275. If I do, I will store the 850.

Dependant on timing and price I may be interested. I'm thinking of selling my Moke and buying another Mini. (Preferably 1100 or 1275.) The Moke is just too impractical in Melbourne weather and I can't leave it anywhere cos I can't secure it. Also the rollcage prevents fitting a back seat, which means my son cannot come with me in it.

Cheers,

You need to post in the "For Sale" section and then people can't reply. 8)
