Hi All, Whats the story with A,R,P Bolt torque settings,I read somewhere there is a large variation,depending what lube you use...So would the torque settings be the same as normal if i used oil as the lube on a 'S' motor? And is there a cheaper option which is just as strong without the expense? The prices i got is about $200 for mains and the same again for conrods..anyone know a cheaper place? [A.R.P] CHEERS!

They have various Con Rod, Head, Flywheel kits... (do a search in their shop for "BMC" )

O.k Thanks guys..Ive also read something about checking thread stretch 0.0065 to 0.007 which is a increase..How do you check that? cheers

hi there. the ARP bolts will come with Moly Lube, use this lube when tensioning the bolts down.
There should be a spec sheet in the packet. The moly Lube is MADE by ARP for there products. it allows you to tension the bolt down to its correct yeild strenght and holds it in place. oil only help the threads to go in, but not bind.

the bolt stretch techinque is used in engine reconditioning shops. you need a special tool (Stretch gauge) to measure the degree of stretch when torquing down your bolts that why you use moly lube.

Torque the bolts according to the spec. USE A GOOD QUAILTY TORQUE WRENCH, the spec may say Torque down and release 3 times. this will also strech the bolts to the right tension.

when dealing with rods, you have to get both joining faces of the rod machined square, and then the rod bolts fitted and then resized.
This will make sure that the Big End Is round and not out of shape.
you can not do this at home. get it done by a engine reconditioner.
