Hey All,

Dad and I are trying to take the clutch out of my clubby. We are up to when you take the fly wheel out, have already taken the bolt off. We can't get the fly wheel out though. Is there a trick to it? or is it meant to just wiggle out?

Thanks, Ash

Don't you need a flywheel puller?

There might be a How To DIY i think.

EDIT: Nope. My bad.

Someone local should have one.

Beg/borrow/buy/make one if you can as it's the safest way to do it , you can gently tap it off through the starter hole with a piece of wood , turning the carank 90 degrees each time but only do that when you can't get a hold of a puller .

So if I'm not putting it back on, since i'm replacing it, would the tapping option be good or will it damage something else?

You'll be putting the bit you're tapping (flywheel) back on I assume , also as mentioned by someone else last time I described it you will be putting forces onto the thrust washers inside the motor which could contribute to a later failure .

I see, well i'm replacing the entire clutch I think. Dad seems to think he can get it off without breaking anything. He's the mechanic so I'll trust him with it.

Has anyone got a pic or template of a fly wheel puller?

Another question from dad, is the end of the crankshaft tapered?

Post subject:

Yes the end of the crank is tapered . There is a flywheel puller how to somewhere by the doc , I'll find it and post it here .
