Has anyone managed to get the auto cancel function to work on a Rover steering column with an after market steering wheel. I can see which part it is on the column but can't work out how to get it to function. I'd image I might need to make a mod to the steering wheel but rather know what before experimenting.

If you look on the back of the original wheel there are two lugs in the centre that engage slots in a rotating nylon ring at the top of the column assembly. I riveted a small piece of metal (about 3cm by 1cm) onto the back of the boss that fitted into one of those slots - it's well hidden behind the wheel and once I gave it a squirt of black pint to match the boss you don't notice it at all.

I've just rivetted a small lug onto the bottom of the boss and it seems to work ok in the garage.I guess I'll find out tomorrow if it works in the real world.
