Has anyone managed to get the auto cancel function to work on a Rover steering column with an after market steering wheel. I can see which part it is on the column but can't work out how to get it to function. I'd image I might need to make a mod to the steering wheel but rather know what before experimenting. |

If you look on the back of the original wheel there are two lugs in the centre that engage slots in a rotating nylon ring at the top of the column assembly. I riveted a small piece of metal (about 3cm by 1cm) onto the back of the boss that fitted into one of those slots - it's well hidden behind the wheel and once I gave it a squirt of black pint to match the boss you don't notice it at all. |

I've just rivetted a small lug onto the bottom of the boss and it seems to work ok in the garage.I guess I'll find out tomorrow if it works in the real world. |
