Simple question... whats the best (ie. and easiest) way to attach original metal badges to a car...?? The badges still have the "sticks" off the back, so is it just a matter of pushing these through the holes in the boot and bonnet and then soldering some solder around the back..??

Mouse condoms, special little plastic plugs that are intended for holding badges on. You can get them from business that supply parts for bodyworks.

Or do a search on here for "mouse condoms".

Just get some of the mouse condom nylon badge doovers from a mini place and slip them over the posts before putting the badges on , they compress to fit through the holes and swell slightly again to hold them in . If you are looking for something stronger again talk to a panel shop about the tape they use to fix them to modern cars and use a little of that as well .

I have found clear silicone to be the best adhesive for badges. It is flexible so takes the vibration really well. I would stick the mouse condoms on as well though, doesn't hurt to have extra safety.

You can also buy metal lugs from auto shops, i know robbos have them ...
but you need to get to the back of the badges to attach them ...very strong and GREAT for grills...

Iwannamini, if someone was to try and debadge my car I'd rather it come out a little more easily than them ripping a hole in the front of my car. Because either way if they want it they will take it, even if its bolted in.

Get the tape I mentioned , I can't remember the name but it's a black spongish looking stuff a couple of mm thick . Ask at a panel beaters and they'll know what it is . Aslo , the mouse condoms hold them on fairly tight anyway .

Are they normal badges you're putting on or something special , if normal just have a few spares as backup as well .

You can't.

The tape I use on my car (super sticky and the stuff I think sports is talking about) is 3M Body Moulding Tape. It comes in a red and black packet (well it did the last roll I bought).

<edit> here is a pic:

Can't find a pic of the box it comes in.

You can get little round circlip type things that squeexe onto the pins at the back. They are high tensile and hard to move once they are on

To stop the mouse condoms splitting, soak them in hot water before pushing them into the holes.
THEN push the badge in.

Condom's are the way to go.

I used the metal circlips as well along with this black bluetack/sikaflex type stuff that my panel beater gave me. Much stronger hold, but easy to remove if you have access behind and they don't crack like the condoms do with age.
