just a question to everyone out there with a mini trailer. how did you get the plug socket on the mini wired up? did you do it yourselves or get a proffessionl? or do many of you run trialers without lights? if so, how do you get them registered? |

You just hook the appropriate wires from the socket to the appropriate wires from the brake/blinker/park lights . There will be a diagram in or on the packaging for the socket and all trailers must have lights . |

All trailers must have lights when built and registered, but there is no annual inspection (in NSW) to ensure they work. Of course the cops can ping ya, if they don't...

Al;l the lights are important, of course, but the turn indicators and the brake lights are particularly important as the lights on the car are mostly obscured by by a trailer and its contents. You dont want some fool sailing into the back of you because you didn't have operative trailer lights. Mostly all you need to fit a trailer wiring kits to a car is the wiring kit itself, the instructions, a couple of packets of "scotch clips" and a good pair of pliars. You also need a wiring diagram for the rear of the mini and some good concentration. Mike |
