I need some wise advice about self parking wipers.

I just fitted a new wiper park plate but guess what, the wipers still won't self park..

Can anyone suggest why it is so???

Did they self park when you had your switches relocated? The wiring on the Clubby wipers is a tricky one.

The original switch had 5 contacts, or which 4 are used, No 3 is the one that isn't used. The switch switches to Earth, so the motor must have power.

The wires to the switch are as follows:

Pin 1 - Black/Green (Speed 1)
Pin 2 - Black (Earth)
Pin 4 - Red/Light Green (Speed 2)
Pin 5 - Blue/Light Green (Parking)

When Off, Pin 4 & 5 are bridged.
Speed 1, Pin 1 & 2 are bridged.
Speed 2, Pin 2 & 4 are bridged.

I'm attempting to recreate this with a 2 location toggle switch (similar to yours) and a Relay that has Double switching in it.

I'll let you know if I succeed.

Dicko.

d1ck0, the wipers have never self parked since I have had the LS even with the original switch.

I pulled the wiper motor off and apart and there was a fair amount of rust on the old wiper plate. Cleaned everything up but still a no auto stop.. :(

Hi Smokie,

There's an article about self parking or the auto stop in the mini encycleopedia somewhere if it's any use. I'll find it and post the link to it.

Try this mate http://www.ime.org.uk/ime/w/wiper_info.html
