Ive done the search.
A008
A539
Falkens
Sime/Simex
Dunlop
Bridgstone…
Blah…Blah…etc.

I have falkens and i can safely say most of us agree they are pretty crap especially in the wet.

Which tyre do you use or recommend for a daily driver not too soft and not too pricey.

Im considering Sime, but now not sure sime/simex whats the difference.
and minisport say they are an entrey level tyre saing that falken are better?

12" 165/60 ATMO

A539's are a good all rounder. Cant get A008's for a 12in wheel.

For 10 or 12 inch wheels Falkens are not a bad tyre, if your a daily driver & don't claim to be the worlds best driver like most of the young guys on here there a good all round tyre, cheap, good wearing, A539's are no longer available in 12 inch.

The one thing about Falken's is they're rubbish in the wet. The reason they're so long-lasting is they use a hard compound, which just doesn't perform in greasy or wet conditions.

In the dry they're not so bad, but I can't wait to get rid of mine...

I know you had a good expereince Hanra but I was also told by my local supplier that the 539s I bought were part of the last stock available in Aus, with no more coming. Maybe it's BS but it must be on the Yoko ordering system or something.

Anyone know if they're still freely available here or overseas?

BTW, I think the 12" 539 is a good street tyre. Not a track tyre by any stretch. In the larger sizes, they can't cope with too much power. My mate's GTR tore the tread blocks right out of the carcass! Not really an issue with most minis.

I had the economy tyres on my wheels when i purchased them (falkens..... gee they lasted a while, ok the dry but very poor traction in the wet on the street, no good for the track in any conditions!! :( ).....as soon as i had worn them out i went in search for a yokohama tyre to suit!! the A539 is what i found!! :D
:D Ive had 3 sets of the yoko a539's (165/60/12) and they are a fantastic tyre for the street!! Ive also found they are quite a good tyre on the track, in the dry and not so bad in the wet either (as i finally found out just recently at phillip island....torrential down pour!!) maybe not quite up to the standard of a semi slick (032r's or whatever they are) but they didnt let go that easily. (once i'd sorted out a good pressure to run them at). I found that they are also quite predictable when they are going to over or understeer on the track. 8)

Thats a shame if thats true? I wouldnt know. I thought the Yokos were a good tyre, i only changed to the Dunlop Formula R DO1J's cause i wanted a lower profile tyre.

No 539s to be found any more. I know because I have tried to get some from Bob Jane's and they phoned Yokohama and were told none in Oz and no more to come.

I also have a mate in the tyre business and he couldn't get any either and says that 12" tires are hard to get now unless you go to the semi slick ones.

As everyone has said, Falkens are OK in the dry but absolutely hopeless in the wet.

A539's were the pick of the crop in 12" but are NLA

I havn't had any experience with Sime in 12" but in 13" they are about equal with the Falkens in the dry, but are much better in the wet so far.

A048R's are avail in 12" ;)

That's about it for Tyre choice..
