Marlene, Depends how bad its leaking. Mine was leaking, had to take it off, strip all the old crap off, put new gaskets on both sides of the spacer (dunno if you have a spacer or not) If you have the $$ go for an electric pump and put a blanking plate on there... but the mechanical ones do the job fine. Its just new gaskets you need and a few hours of work (it can be a pain getting in there ![]() Peter. |

Get a honda pump from a carby model, they are really quiet and cheap. Put them on all my Mini's as the also come with the anti vibration mount. $22 |

The mechanical pumps are very difficult to fit because you can't get both hands down there. You need to be able to hold the pump in place while putting the bolts in and the arm that runs on the cam keeps jumping off. It is a real pain. Last time I replaced one on my sister's car I swore I would never do it again. It's worth the cost of the electric pump. You should also think about mounting it on the rear subframe under the tank like in a Cooper S. The noise will be much less intrusive. Pete |

I would go get a 3psi Facet electronic one, and fit it down the back on a Mini exhaust mount rubber. Like this- They are much cheaper than an SU electric pump and I find them very reliable. ![]() |
