I used Kill Rust spray cans - Primer then top coat - Gloss or Matt - I have also discovered if you use both gloss and matt at the same time (one in each hand) you get a nice semi matt finish ![]() |

Hi guys, The correct paint finish is satin black. If you use Wattyl Paints etch primer in black, you should get a perfect match to the origional BMC finish and because it's a primer, you can put it straight over bare steel, just like original. On the 850 I'm working on, only the boot-side half needed painting and it is now impossible to tell which paint is fresh and which is original, both in colour and texture. It is available in rattle cans but it would be far more economical to buy a litre and spray it. Regards Al |

Hi David, Wattyl were pretty comfortable that it would stand up the the application, including spilt fuel if ever that happened. Al |

thanks, - tom Hi Tom, The Wattyl paint I'm speaking of is quite thin, so will spray through almost any system. You'd want some 1K lacquer thinners to clean your gun out afterwards. Al |
