just found this from a 1972 italian mag..cant understand the text but how stylish is that dash.. and wheel.. cant beat the italians when it comes to advanced automotive styling.

Yeah you are right- they are top stylists. In 1969 I forsook my 1275 Mini rocketship for a new Fiat 124AC coupe. Love at first sight. I had an italian love affair with them for 25? years, until getting mechanical parts became a PITA.
Kept the tacho- it's in kazjim's 998 turbo now..

Just got a book for christmas - original mini cooper and cooper s by john parnell - very cool and has a lot of detail about the innocenti coopers.

What you have a phot of there is the innocenti cooper 1300, built 1972-1975. After reading about these, they crap all over the UK and Aussie ones in terms of specification, style and comfort. I have an opportunity in the next couple of years to go work in europe for my company or a few years. I have decided to mak it my mission to get one of these while i am over there and bring it back. Super rare out here and a good car to boot.

mickmini they're great but all were made in left hand drive (converting prob. wont be a problem in a mini though). Also dont bother trying to buy that excelent 6 gauge innocenti dash - again they only come in LHD versions.

Mistyk why go with the boring UK almond green or tartan red combinations when the Australian Coopers came with much nicer colour schemes.

Yep that is a Innocenti Cooper dash and I beleive they were only made for left hand drives
but very cool dashes

Great to see someone wanting to do something Mini different!

My advice is to get on to an Italian Mini Car Club before you go and do some research that way....

Strongly recommend you go for a turbo version as although the 993 loves to rev they are down on horses or add a turbo in Aust from a Charade (I know it won't be original then...)....fairly sure you can both normally aspirated and forced incudction types in Italy.

i'll try for the 1300, from what the book says they have plenty power standard. they made a lot of 1300 export for other parts of yurop so could also pick one up from another country. i don't care if it is lhd, its different!
