Rover...
later model, smoother, quieter, has brakes.
Classic looks...modern car.less rust, less owners.
features... unleaded, leather, air con, EFI.
How can we compare the two cars, when all it is is evolution.

I just wanted to see peoples views on the whole situation.
Without morris there would be no rover
Without rover there would be no parts supply.

mmmm...yes....and thank god for Holden and the Commodore, for without it we would never have had the Toyota Lexen!

hmmm....and while we are at it.....thank god for the Mitsubishi Lancer, for without this, we would have never had the Proton Satria!

Hmmmmmmmmm, and not to forget the extra drivability due to the lower power.....and the best of all......with all those ancilliaries like A/C etc ....you can't see the oil leaks!!! :)

You forgot modern car price with old car rust resistance and a whole new set of parts problems and reliability issues with EFI.

I would have liked to have seen more than just cosmetic evolution. Especially I would think by the late 90s they would have sorted out the rust problems. I know that's the UK climate and the salt on the roads but you would think they would have fixed it in a UK built for UK conditions. Look at any 1994 Mini in the UK - rust everywhere. :?

As for the price - $15K buys you what? A 10 year old Mini Cooper with 80,000km? What else does $15K buy - any number of reliable small cars less than two years old and with more grunt.

Yes, I love the Rover Minis too, but I don't think they are all that much better in many ways than their predecessors. I would still buy one over a modern hatchback, but they are not something I would recommend for the average motorist.

I was a bit insulted today coming home from the cruise. Some stranger pulled up beside me at the lights as said.
"wat u got a rover engine in there for thats not a real mini" coming from a total stranger to blast out like that. "Far out"
:x :x :x

Forgive him- he's just an ocker- you would have to be a Mini lover here (like us) to know that Rover actually owned the Mini name and made them!

Course it's still a real Mini - don't let a loser like that bother you.

Probably thinks it's a modded 60's model like most Aussies.
