Don't know about Cairns (I assume that's where you mean?) but Port Douglas and Magnetic Island (off Townsville) both have hire Mokes.

Lots of fun on Magnetic certainly, didn't hire one in Port D.

Check via the Net. I suspect you'll find all the info you need.

Cheers, Pottsy

I hired one in Cairns a few years ago from a mob called Yahoo car hire. They were the only ones who would let you take a Moke into the Daintree, so we did.

Cairns seems to be full of business that last a single tourist season then move on, I'd expect that Yahoo are long gone.

I've also hired Mokes in Port Douglas several times. They weren't nearly as flexible.

Tim

We hired a Moke in Pt Douglas a couple of years ago from a place called Holiday Car Hire. Spookily, it was also yellow like our own Moke. :)

You could not drive it to Cairns, you could not drive it into the Daintree and it cost more than hiring an air conditioned Daewoo or similar. But we had more fun with the Moke anyway. :D

There's still a company on the Gold Coast that has 1 moke (or at least it did 6 months ago ) , I'll try and find out if it's still there .

I know someone that hired a Moke in Noosa about 20 odd years ago. It was a 1275 Californian. He returned it the next day to the hire company with drum brakes!!! ;)

PS. No, it wasn't me.

and....thats exactly why these businesses sometime cease to trade....I knew the fella in Sydney who operated Rent-a-Bug....he folded the whole lot because he was tired of getting a completely stuffed engine back when the car went out with a goodun!!

Hi there from Germany,

I've been to Australia last year with my wife and we hired a Moke in Airlie Beach from this place: http://www.funrentals.com.au/ . We had a lot of fun even if the weather was bad. We were there in July, since my wife is a teacher we can only go on vacation during german school holidays.
