Has anyone had any experience with the Mini King Motor Wreckers, in Kilburn?

Someone recommended them to me, so i went in to chat to this old bloke there who said he'd worked on mini's his whole life etc. and he seemed pretty genuine.

Has anyone had any work done there? What was it like - cost / quality.

Cheers

I've bought some parts from there before......it's a family business, and have been quite helpful.

I've never had any work done there though.....

they do a cheeeeeap gearbox rebuild. up to half the price of other mobs. I havent tested it yet but all the bits inside look shiney.
They are good for 2nd hand stuff, really good infact. But as far as the commonly needed stuff goes they cant really beat ebay and karcraft.

Top blokes too, been around since jesus and probly forgotten more than i know

I broke my idler and damaged a lot of my gearbox from a 'rebuilt' one of theirs- but it was CHEAP so you get what you pay for in terms of performance, fine for road car, not good for high power stuff. Also I bought a Cooper S long motor from them and some of the parts in the motor (since it came appart recently) were not exactly what they told me went in.

Great blokes, go in with your own knowledge though, as at their age they forget simple things, like that 2 speed wiper motors are geared different to single speed, +0.060 thou on a 1275 is a 1330cc not a 1310cc. And general Cooper S stuff for motor parts.

Great for spares, and parts, especially second hand but watch out for 'reconditioned' as if it's cheap sometimes there is a reason for it - from my experience, but after my engine and all that stuff I'd still recommend them for various stuff. :) - Mostly parts.

<edit> - Mod's is this OK, I know our rules on talking about business's, but it think I've been pretty fair.

I've never had any work done there but have bought quite a few bits and pieces from them as they are the closet mini parts place to me.They don't have the range of the other places in Adelaide but I have always found them friendly and helpful to deal with.

Jeff, one of the guys there, very helpful.
Back in the days when I was very fresh to Minis, my mini was tuned and serviced at Blair Athol.
Good prices, good service.
It was only that I started going to other workshops when I realised I didn't have to travel as far to get the same job done.

so ended up taking the mini there, and they put in reconditioned rack, tie rod ends, bushes and boot kits and they did a great job. he (Jeff) called me up several times and told me exactly what they were doing etc. and they stuck to the prices that were quoted.

It now drives extremely well and I just wanna drive it all day ahah.

So yea i recommend them :D
