the easiest way of fixing the rattles is to turn the radio up

I know where you're coming from, I have subsequently fixed every rattle/vibration in my car and it is amazing how much better it feels to drive (I drive without a radio  ).

I would just suggest grease things up (work those grease nipples  ) and make sure everything is tightened the correct amount.

Does the noise only happen when turning? Adjusts with speed? Just going over bumps etc? Or does it happen all the time?

lols no radio to turn up.. its a rev rattle that happens around 2000 breifly and again at 3000 for a bit longer.. it sounds like something loose in the engine bay but i cant put my finger on it..

Check your bonnet badge, my MK1 Cooper S bonnet badge vibrates like mad, but im too lazy to fix it.

check your radiator surround, it may have lost a screw, mine rattles at certain revs but I do have a radio :D

Check the bonnet is not touching the metal body on the sides, or at the front.

i think i found it but not 100% sure need someone to give me a hand i cant rev and hold things at the same time but i am pretty sure the radiator is vibrating against the mount at the back, easy fix but i had only checked the front end because thats where there is a small amount of paint wear. will fix it in the morning before school haha..
