I remember hearing many years ago that Austin 1800's used a mixture of alcohol and water. I remember thay had to put something bitter (castor oil?) in it because drunks would lie under the back and push the valve and drink the alcohol. Owners would come back and find their car on the bump stops.

the mini stuff was the same.... it was a chemical bittering agent. I posted the original recipe a long time ago, as a few others have done..... :)
