I have just bought a set of 12inch superlites a few weeks ago and I got the tyres fitted on and the back ones fitted but the front did not allow
wheel turn. They where Kumo power stars i think 165 70 r12. The tyre place tried another type 145 70 r 12 but still no full turn. I am now waiting for a set
of Falcan tyres to try that are 165 60 r12. Its a round nose and the hydrolastic suspension has been changed to cone. Is there any way to raise the front with cone suspension or somehow raise it to allow fitment of these tyres. Someone else must of had this problem, any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

5, 6 or 7 inches?

i think 12x5 is the widest you can go with out cutting some metal..

I think from memory 60 series (tyre profile , width versus height) is the tallest you can go with 12" but someone else should be able to confirm it .

Has your car had a Rover front apron panel fitted to it at any stage? Do you have discs on the front?

They are 12x5 rims, front drum brakes. I don't know
if it has a rover front apron or not.

Yoko A539's i used to have were 165/60/R12. They fit fine. Now i have Dunlop 165/55/R12. Slightly lower profile. Do you have adjustable castor bars? Has anyone ever frigged with them? How low is it?

most minis are sitting a bit low at the front by now due to saggy cones, with a 165/70R12 i cant see them fitting if your mini is a bit low or giving an accurate result on the speedo either.

see how you go with the falkens, but you might be up for a set of hilos.

Nah, seriously, a 165/70 has a rolling diameter of 536mm.
As a comparison, 165/60s are 502mm, 165/55s are 486 and
175/50r13s are 505mm.

Short version, tyres are too big!

165/70 is a lot of tire to have under the front guard, I'm pretty sure that Mini Mad ran this size on his clubby and it used to rub.

165/70-12 is what I run on my Morris 1100. I don't have any problems with rubbing.

morris 1100's don't count in that arguement.
ours has low fluid and still struggles to rub on the front

I have Dunlop 165/55R12 and they are 6 inch wide with no probs at all.

i had the same issues as you mate when i had kuhmo's, they rub on the arches, got some yoko's and didnt happen again.
you can get hi lo's if you need to get some more height too

are the drum brakes "spacered"/"stepped" ones? i thought for wider than stock wheel you needed stepped drums to allow them to trn completely in the gaurd.
