Post subject: | morris questions.. firewall and shifter hole |
Hey all Got stuck into the track car today, I cut out the Weber box to replace it with a stock firewall out of my clubby, but before I weld the new one in, how different are they? I know the Morris ones have the large hole left of the master cylinder, but is that all? The clubby one im thinking of welding in has the hole in the centre. Also, the floor is different to say the clubby one, is this simply because of the different gear boxes used? in the Morris shell, (see pic) that hole is for the early type shift yes? but where the normal rod change hole should be, there is 4 threaded inserts.. any idea what these are? (sorry, no pic of that) Thanks ![]() |

Was the body originally a matic ? Sounds like the mounts for the auto shifter , I think the shift control cable went through the magic wand hole so it should have the magic wand hole and the threaded holes . Is the car type YMA2S4 (I think 4's the matic ???) ? |

Looks like a matic shell to me, they used the magic wand hole and shift boot for the shifter cable. Only they had the 4 captive nuts in front of the crossmember. |

Best guess, sixty-something ![]() No idea, without chassis numbers it's going to be pretty hard. [edit] Unless of course you've got the original starter or wiper motor (or dizzy?), they have the month/year of manufacture stamped on them. |

They only made autos between very late 67 and 70 so there is only about a 3 year window that is would have been made. |
