Post subject: | Subframe mount nut size? |
Hi all I have a 67 deluxe with hydro, and the subframe from a 70 K (dry). The 2 subframes have different size top mount nuts. Hydro with 5/16 UNF & dry with 3/8 UNF. Is this correct or have the wrong size nuts been put in the hydro subframe? Also should I stitch weld around the top mount plate even if it has no cracks? |

So, can I get studs with 5/16" both ends? Or, look at if it is possible to remove the 5/16" nuts in the subframe & replace the with 3/8" nuts? |

Or, look at if it is possible to remove the 5/16" nuts in the subframe & replace the with 3/8" nuts? ahhh!!!! sorry!!! anyone reading my post above would think I'm a complete loony!! hydro subframes used 5/16" bolts through the crossmember, dry subframes used those stepped 3/8" to 5/16" studs go to a bolt place and buy a big long unf bolt... I'll give you the size in 5 minutes |

the hydro subframe bolt is 4 1/4" long (without the head) of that, the first 1" is threaded. a while ago I bought some high tensile ones at my local coventry fasteners that did the job, I have several of the original ones too sigh... I've got a mind like a steel trap, rusty and squeaky |

cd, There's no such thing as a 70 K dry subby, they were all wet. If it's got studs either the subby is from something else, 850, van or whatever- or the bolts have been replaced by studs. |
