Hi all, Are the clutch and brake master cylinders the same internally? as on a cooper ''s'' Why is one a bit taller where the brake line connects...Ive got the taller one on the brakes but don't know if its the right way round...Having a bit of trouble brakes work fine but pedal is very soft,,rear wheel cylinders are adjusted correctly..Its the first mini ive had with disc brakes and dont know how firm the pedal should be...If you just put foot on pedal it seems very soft,,but if i jack the front up and spin the wheel the brake comes on about a third of pedal movement....Is it just the booster thats making it seem soft? this is without a motor in the car no vacuum connected...Any advice or ideas appreciated.. Have you changed any of the hoses or anything lately ? Did you convert your mini to discs or did you buy it with them ? The flexible hoses might need replacing as they can "balloon" slightly when they get old . |

No haven't changed any hoses but cleaned them out with compressed air...no conversion either..genuine cooper 's'..System has been bled, no air or leaks .I put a mk 1 booster on it and the cylinder and cups looked fine..cheers |

Should the pedal be firm like a drum braked mini? or a bit softer due to the brake assist [booster]? |

Pedal is a bit soggier with the servo. That's why some of us run without it. The tank on S brake MC is taller to hold extra fluid, for when the pads wear down and level drops. Inside is same as a deluxe one (0.70" bore). |
